Only 1 thing…
... to go
into churches
that are open
for a short prayer!
... to go

... to go
into churches
that are open
for a short prayer!
... to go

... to go
into churches
that are open
for a short prayer!
... You too??
So it’s quite simply this:
I
would
like ...
So, it is about the wish. The wish to get into churches that are open. Even if sometimes you do not make it, you do not get the chance to pass by a church the next day, or you forget, and sometimes you even think you could take a small detour to visit one and don`t manage it. Yes, anyway you wish it…
to go
into churches
that are open
Basically, the churches will be open to people who pray. And because there are worshippers (like us), people will be able to find an open church when they need it. We assure the church leaders that prayers will be held normally in the church and nothing will be stolen.
to make
1 quick
prayer
... or even more if you like - but the short break from the daily grind will transform your everyday life and you don't have to invest much time at all for it. Frequency and regularity help: it is like lots of small pilgrimages. Long walking pilgrimages often bring about change – so why not also through these small daily pilgrimages…?
Go
inside
as often
as possible ...
... so without any pressure, these small daily pilgrimages enrich the life routine, and help us advance in small steps on the path of holiness. And to do it together, in a network with others who do the same thing, in a circle of friends who pray for one another briefly...
LOLEK's circle of friends, they are simply friends of the open churches, those who wish to go inside for a quick prayer…
... just like you?
Pope Saint John Paul II began his pontificate with the words:
Aprite, anzi spalancate le porte a Cristo!
Open, indeed, open wide the doors to Christ
And we want to support this with regular church visits.
Here we can see an image of St. John Paul II as a child, Karol, between his parents. At that time he was affectionately called Lolek by everyone. He is the patron of this prayer + open church initiative: LOLEK's circle of friends.
LOLEK's circle of friends explained briefly in 5 points...
1: Visit open churches as regularly as possible (if possible daily).
2: Already at the entrance, make the sign of the cross and genuflect or bow. This is already a wordless short prayer (for your loved ones, your circle of friends, those who go to Church and those who should improve in some way; also as a prayer of thanksgiving for everything you have received from God…)
3: According to the motto 1-4-ALL ALL-4-1, you carry the people of this circle of friends in your prayers and they all do the same for you. In this way, we help each other follow a spiritual path to reach heaven, as Blessed Charles of Austria said. One for all, all for one, so that you are never alone (not even in an empty church).
4: Pray & do good (anywhere in this world) - e.g. helping MISSIO to build churches in Africa whose doors remain open - from 1€ or more, if you wish even a lot more... (you can find more details below )
5: You join an open circle of friends, not a closed society. Please feel free to invite other friends...
When we forget the good, the heart becomes small. But if, like Mary, we remember the great things that the Lord is doing, if we say a small prayer of praise at least once a day, the heart will expand, the joy will grow.
Pope Francis
... Sometimes it is harder,
sometimes easier,
to remember
to come
to an open church...
...those who find it easier
to visit a church
bring the others
into their brief prayers ...
…& anyone who is feeling drained
knows that is being supported
by prayers…
Pray and do good:
At the Living Rosary - the prayer initiative that Blessed Pauline Jaricot started - she not only encouraged to pray but also to help others - at that time with 1 Sous a week (currently 10 cents)… - today the invitation goes to us…
Let’s support Church building projects in the South countries!
And as a bonus effect: a monthly direct debit can be a small reminder that you are taking part and that you don't turn a blind eye to help churches to be open... that you help…
Soon ...
when the churches are finished being built, people will be praying in open churches there as well ...

... change our everyday life.
.. in the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this daily life takes on a completely new and quiet routine ...
... to the church just around the corner,
to the churches on the way to work, shopping, during a walk...
this changes everyday life, we promise!
Going on a pilgrimage in your everyday life...?
A short visit to the church in the middle of one’s daily life can be like a small pilgrimage. And just as the Camino or a visit to Mariazell can transform our lives, so can everyday little pilgrimages to the church around the corner.
... when you start a short pilgrimage in the middle of your everyday life ...
... who mercifully awaits us, with open arms and a loving heart.
… in everyday life & in the church on your way ...
… is possible in every church…
…out of gratitude for what we have found & also for other reasons…
Where to peregrinate ...?
… if you make small pilgrimages to the churches around the corner every day, you can always enter them with different intentions and also head for “different pilgrimage destinations”, by visiting the image of the patron saint of the church, by going to the image of Our Lady, by going to St. Anthony and the merciful Jesus…
A prayer is never in vain: it allows something new to blossom that will sooner or later bear fruit.
Pope Francis
So what
could you
pray for?
Sometimes for a special request, other times for the five ideas seen here below (or on the side), and perhaps for a specific occasion, for your small circle of friends within the circle of friends.
Come speak to the Lord about your concerns in His house
Take your loved ones (family, friends,...) with you in your heart to church...
for the others in the circle of friends
for the others who visit this church...
for those who would never think of visiting a church...
Our testimony opens doors to people. Our prayer opens the doors to the Father's heart. Let us ask the Lord that we carry out our work of witness and prayer and help the Father draw people to Jesus.
Pope Francis
… you join LOLEK’s circle of friends ??? ...
...when the whole (extended) family joins in and you bring their everyday life before God again and again when stopping by His House…
…when you and your friends decide to pray for each other & the rest of LOLEK’s circle of friends, then you know who to entrust to the Lord in your prayer and you will grow together in faith and spirituality.
... Prayer groups, Communities, Movements: groups can form their own small circles of friends, so every day through a quick prayer in an open church, you keep those you meet weekly or monthly in your heart...
... a circle of friends in a common language - from French to Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Croatian, Slovakian, ... up to your mother tongue - if it is not German - you are able to form circles of friends who speak the same language.
... as a parish /parish association/ deanery or as a group of friends in the same neighborhood – do pray for each other in the open church! and maybe you'll meet each other there too...
... are you characterised by the same spirituality, such as a religious community? Then form a group of friends – in this way you can support each other even better in prayer and share spiritual experiences with each other...
A Cardinal’s dream ...
... People who are united in small groups,
praying
and taking care
of the building of the church which is open...
We, as a circle of friends,
take on a ministry of present ongoing prayer
through our short visits to open churches...
Anyone who can imagine investing even more here, wanting to care even more, being able to get more involved in this project: the HimmelPfort Confraternity was created for them...
Let the very act of entering a church become a short prayer...
1. going through the church door
2. the sign of the cross
3. the genuflection
as a short prayer for all the others who participate in the circle of friends
according to the motto::
And if you don't know what to pray for, these three gestures may already be enough as a prayer.
Again and again they can make you aware of how beautiful it is to be called into the Church, how good it is to be baptized and how wonderful and great God is...
3 short acts when entering the church, which can become 3 wordless prayers...
1. Through the church door... |
Let's look at what Jesus says:
Thoughts: [+] Like this door, may we (all of us who participate in LOLEK's Circle of Friends) open our hearts.
|
2. The Sign of the Cross... |
When we make the sign of the cross (possibly with holy water) we remember... |
3. The genuflection … |
The genuflection seems like such an ancient movement, like to bow in front of a king in old times… it is strenuous, unusual, perhaps embarrassing, just appropriate for a pathetic marriage proposal and yet one does it when entering the church. . |
LOLEK's circle of friends is one of more than 20 projects of offene Kirche, this project helps to open church doors, keep them open and organize the church spaces. It is supported by the Maria-HimmelPfort-Confrerie (which is currently being established).
Together With the “Open Church” project office, the HimmelPfort Confrerie supports this prayer project in open churches...
The heavenly patron saint of the project is St. John Paul II, with his “aprite, anzi spalancate le porte a Cristo”, i.e. “Open, indeed, open wide the doors to Christ”, because in the very act of opening the doors, we pray for the many for whom Christ desires the doors of his house to be open so that they can meet him there ...
